Description

L-Lactide is one of the optically active isomers of lactide. As a polymer monomer, it is primarily used for the homopolymerization of L-polylactic acid (PLLA). This homopolymer exhibits optical activity, stereoregularity, a defined degree of crystallinity, a distinct melting point, and good mechanical strength. It is one of the most important biodegradable polymers. In the medical field, PLLA is commonly used as a carrier material in orthopedics.
