Structural Features
The chemical name of fasoracetam is (5R)-5-(piperidine-1-carbonyl)pyrrolidin-2-one. Its structure differs significantly from other racetams: the acetamide group is located at the 5-position of the 2-pyrrolidone ring, rather than an open nitrogen at the 1-position as seen in other racetams. Additionally, a piperidine group is attached to the acetamide.
