Description
Bimatoprostamide is a prostaglandin (PG) F-series analog in which the C-1 carboxylic acid group is modified to an unsubstituted amide. This compound and other PG N-ethylamides are being investigated as alternative PG hypotensive prodrugs. Bimatoprostamide is expected to exhibit typical intraocular effects similar to latanoprost but with significantly slower hydrolysis pharmacokinetics than PG N-amides.
