Olefin Copolymer (OCP) Viscosity Modifier – High-Performance Viscosity Index Improver for Engine Oils
Product Overview
This product is a solid, high-stability olefin copolymer (OCP) in granular form, specifically designed for use as a viscosity index improver (VII) and thickening agent in premium automotive engine oils. Its excellent temperature–viscosity relationship and outstanding shear stability make it suitable for a wide range of demanding applications, including multi-grade engine oils.
Key Performance Features
High thickening efficiency – achieves target viscosity grades with moderate treat rates.
Excellent shear stability – maintains viscosity under mechanical stress, ensuring long-term engine protection.
Superior temperature performance – provides consistent viscosity across a broad operating temperature range.
Good oil solubility – readily dissolves in various base oils with proper mixing.
Granular form – easy to handle and incorporate into formulations.
Recommended Processing
The polymer should be dissolved at elevated temperature (100–120°C) with vigorous agitation in base oil for 6–12 hours until completely dissolved. Typical treat rates range from 4% to 12% depending on the desired final viscosity and the base oil used. For optimal performance, it should be used in conjunction with a suitable pour point depressant (PPD).
Applications
High-quality automotive engine oils (passenger car and heavy-duty diesel).
Multi-grade lubricants (e.g., 0W‑20, 5W‑30, 10W‑40).
Industrial lubricants requiring viscosity index improvement.
Handling and Storage
When handling the granules, use appropriate respiratory protection and gloves.
Store in a cool, dry place, below 30°C, away from direct sunlight and moisture.
Avoid long-term storage at temperatures above 30°C to prevent caking or degradation.
Shelf life: typically 24 months under recommended storage conditions.
Packaging
Available in 25 kg bags, 50 kg drums, or bulk packaging upon request.
Quality Assurance
Each batch is tested for molecular weight, shear stability, thickening efficiency, and solubility to ensure consistent performance.
