Introduction

Borane dimethylsulfide complex is a borohydride and reducing agent. It is mainly used in borohydride reactions and reduction reactions of unsaturated bonds and specific functional groups.

The electron pairs in the borane dimethylsulfide molecule that form certain chemical bonds are distributed among three atoms, forming three-center bonds (B–B–B and B–H–B bonds).

This product can be obtained by the reaction of boron halide and lithium aluminum hydride.

Additionally, because borane dimethylsulfide can release a large amount of heat upon combustion, it is used as a high-energy fuel for jet aircraft and rockets.
