Overview
1-Octene is a high-purity linear alpha-olefin widely used as a comonomer in the production of linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE). Copolymerization of ethylene with 1-octene yields LLDPE with superior mechanical properties, including high tensile strength, impact resistance, and environmental stress crack resistance. It also improves thermal stability, flexibility, and transparency of polyethylene products.
Applications
LLDPE production: As a comonomer to enhance polymer performance.
Plasticizers: Intermediate for the synthesis of specialty plasticizers.
Surfactants: Raw material for the production of surfactants and detergents.
Synthetic lubricants: Base fluid for high-performance synthetic oils and greases.
Chromatography: Used as a reference standard in analytical chromatography.
Chemical synthesis: Building block for various organic compounds.
Handling and Storage
Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated warehouse away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
Keep containers tightly sealed to prevent evaporation and contamination.
Separate from oxidizing agents and strong acids to avoid hazardous reactions.
Fire prevention measures: use dry powder, CO₂, or foam extinguishers; water may be ineffective.
Ground containers during transfer to prevent static discharge.
Packaging
Available in 1 L, 5 L, 20 L, and 200 L drums, as well as custom packaging upon request.
Quality Assurance
Each batch is tested for purity (GC), water content, and color to ensure consistent quality.
